ITALIAN LEVEL I

If you have never studied the Italian language or you simply would like to "start all over again -- at the beginning"...this class is for you. The lessons are structured to meet the needs of the students and we work at the pace that they prefer. Italian for Beginners (Italian Level I) is a 10 week course. This course will cover some of the basics of Italian grammar (gender, number (singular/plural) aggettivi, verbs (present tense, regular and irregular...) as well as some basic conversation. Each class meets for 2 hours, one evening per week. The textbook is "Prego." |

POSTCARDS FROM ITALY |
This is a 10 week course in beginning Italian aimed specifically at the language needs and concerns of the traveler, i.e., tailored to the situations students will face as tourists. We work to develop knowledge of those words and phrases that will be needed on your trip and how to understand the replies you will get from your Italian listeners. We will cover some basic Italian language grammar as well as many conversational phrases. Situations covered during lessons will include: "at the restaurant;" hotel; train station; shopping; asking for directions; asking for help; making phone calls; bank; post office; renting a car; touring; "small talk;" etc. The objective is to give you direct and usable speaking ability and confidence without overemphasizing grammar. No prior knowledge of the Italian language is required for these classes. Lessons are 2 hours, one evening per week. |
